Xylan 1420 is a waterborne, resin-bonded, thermosetting single-layer barrier coating from Whitford Corporation (now PPG), part of the Xylan 1400 Series . Processing Guidelines for Xylan 1420 Coating

Surface Preparation Degrease (acetone or isopropanol) → grit-blast (Sa2.5, Ra 1.5–4.0 μm) → zinc/manganese phosphate (recommended) 
Primer (Optional) Xylan P-5211, Xylan® 1, Xylan P-51, or Xylan P-501 recommended for enhanced corrosion protection
