描述

3M Novec 1904 Electronic Grade Coating Spray Application Higher Solids

Product: Novec 1904 Coating
Type: Electronic Grade Fluoropolymer
Solids: 4.0 wt%
Thickness: 0.25-4.0 µm
Dielectric Strength: 3700 V/mil
Packing: 5KG / 20KG drum

3M Novec 1904 Electronic Grade Coating is a higher solids version (4.0 wt%) of Novec 1902, specifically designed for spray application. This clear, low-viscosity fluorinated polymer solution is diluted in a blend of 3M Novec 7100 and 7200 Engineered Fluids, providing a low surface tension coating that dries to a transparent, ultrathin film with excellent hydrophobic and oleophobic properties. With coating thickness ranging from 0.25 to 4.0 microns — significantly thicker than Novec 1700/1902 — Novec 1904 delivers enhanced protection for PCBs and electronic components in demanding environments.

Novec 1904 offers superior dielectric performance with a dielectric breakdown strength of 3700 V/mil — nearly double that of Novec 1700/1902 (2000 V/mil) — and a lower dielectric constant of 2.8. Its higher glass transition temperature (52°C vs 44.5°C) provides improved thermal stability. The coating provides excellent repellency against water, hydrocarbons, silicones, and photoresists with water contact angle of 105° and hexadecane angle of 65°. It adheres well to metals, glass, ceramics, polymers, and laminates, and withstands 175°C for 24 hours while maintaining repellency. Environmentally, it is nonflammable, non-ozone-depleting, low in toxicity, low GWP, RoHS compliant, and VOC exempt (per U.S. EPA). With a 2-year shelf life and easy spray application, Novec 1904 is ideal for PCB protection, display connections, and demanding conformal coating applications.
