3M Novec 1702 Electronic Grade Coating Ultrathin Low Standoff Protection
Type: Electronic Grade Fluoropolymer
Solids: 0.2 wt%
Coating Thickness: <100 nm
VOC Status: Exempt
Packing: 5KG / 20KG drum
3M Novec 1702 Electronic Grade Coating is a low solids version of Novec 1700, designed specifically for applications requiring an even thinner protective film. This clear, low-viscosity solution of a fluorinated acrylic polymer in hydrofluoroether solvent dries to a transparent film less than 100 nanometers thick — ideal for coating under low stand-off components where clearance is limited. It provides excellent moisture and corrosion protection for printed circuit boards and electronic components with outstanding hydrophobic and oleophobic properties.
Novec 1702 offers all the advantages of Novec 1700 with an even lower profile. It requires no curing, dries at room temperature in seconds, and can be handled in under two minutes. The coating provides excellent repellency against water, hydrocarbons, silicones, and photoresists, with water contact angle of 105° and hexadecane angle of 65°. It is easily removable for rework using Novec 7100DL Engineered Fluid and allows solder-through repairability. Environmentally, it is nonflammable, non-ozone-depleting, low in toxicity, low GWP, RoHS compliant, and VOC exempt (per U.S. EPA). With a 4-year shelf life and compatibility with metals, glass, and epoxy laminates, Novec 1702 is a versatile, cost-effective alternative to traditional conformal coatings.
