描述
Hostaform LM140LG is a laser markable, low gloss POM-C (Polyoxymethylene Copolymer) injection molding grade, genuinely manufactured by Celanese and imported as original product. We supply this grade as an authorized distributor / trader, ensuring full traceability and access to official Celanese technical documentation.
This grade is a laser markable specialty grade of acetal copolymer formulated to provide good flow with a low gloss finish. It is an easy flowing injection molding grade designed for applications requiring permanent, high-contrast laser markings.
The “LM” designation indicates Laser Markable, while “LG” stands for Low Gloss, representing a unique combination of laser marking capability and aesthetic surface finish.
It is a very hard and rigid, heavy-metal free POM copolymer grade that exhibits outstanding chemical resistance (solvents, fuels & strong alkalis), hydrolysis resistance, fatigue resistance, creep resistance, moisture resistance, and stress cracking resistance. It also exhibits toughness down to -40°C, offers good heat resistance, very good slip/wear properties, excellent resilience, and low moisture absorption. With regular stock availability, we support both trial orders and bulk shipments for automotive, electronics, and precision engineering applications.

Processing Guidelines (Injection Molding)
The following injection molding parameters are recommended for Hostaform LM140LG:
| Parameter | Recommended Setting |
|---|---|
| Pre-drying | Generally not required; drying is recommended if moisture is present |
| Drying Temperature | 80°C |
| Drying Time | 3 hours |
| Max. Processing Moisture Content | ≤0.35% |
| Melt Temperature | 182 – 199°C |
| Melt Temperature (Max) | Never exceed 230°C |
| Mold Temperature | 82 – 93°C |
| Screw Compression Ratio | Minimum 3:1, preferably 4:1 |
| Back Pressure | Low back pressure (0.35 MPa / 50 PSI) |
Critical Processing Warnings for Hostaform LM140LG:
Thermal Degradation: POM can decompose at high temperatures, releasing formaldehyde gas. Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid prolonged residence time in the barrel. Melt temperature should never exceed 230°C (450°F).
Screw Selection: Using a low compression screw (e.g., general purpose 2:1 compression ratio) can result in unmelted particles and poor melt homogeneity. A high compression screw (minimum 3:1, preferably 4:1) with low back pressure is recommended.
Mold Temperature for Thin Walls: For wall thickness less than 1.5 mm, mold temperatures as high as 82-93°C (180-200°F) are recommended.
Material Purity: Strictly avoid contamination with other polymers, as this will compromise the laser markable properties and overall performance.
Regrind/Recycled Material: Adding regrind is not recommended for this specialty grade. Re-processing may degrade the laser markable properties. If necessary, use a very small percentage (<10%) only with prior validation testing.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place and use sealed, original packaging when possible.

FAQ
Q1: What is Hostaform LM140LG and what is it used for?
A: Hostaform LM140LG is a laser markable, low gloss POM-C (Polyoxymethylene Copolymer) injection molding grade. It is an easy flowing specialty grade formulated for permanent, high-contrast laser marking with a low gloss / matte finish. It is widely used in electronics (component housings, labels), automotive (interior parts requiring traceability), precision engineering, consumer goods, medical devices, and industrial applications requiring permanent identification markings.
Q2: What does “LM” and “LG” mean in the grade name?
A: LM stands for Laser Markable – indicating the grade is specifically formulated for permanent laser marking applications. LG stands for Low Gloss – indicating the grade provides a low gloss / matte surface finish.
Q3: What are the key mechanical properties?
A: Tensile modulus of 1900 MPa, yield stress of 41 MPa, yield strain of 10%, Charpy notched impact strength of 3.1 kJ/m² at 23°C, and heat deflection temperature of 80°C at 1.8 MPa.
Q4: What is the melting temperature of this material?
A: The melting temperature is 166°C (ISO 11357-1/-3).
Q5: Is drying required before processing?
A: Drying is generally not required because Celcon and Hostaform acetal copolymers are not hygroscopic nor degraded by moisture during processing. However, for better uniformity (especially when using regrind or material stored in open containers), recommended drying is 80°C for 3 hours.
Q6: What are the processing temperature parameters?
A: Melt temperature: 182-199°C (never exceed 230°C). Mold temperature: 82-93°C.
