Micromax 5524 from MacDermid Alpha is a stable, one-part silver/carbon conductor specifically designed for high temperature applications where excursions to 105°C are required. It has been used on flatbed and reel-to-reel manufacturing lines, which supports both prototype and volume membrane switch production. The paste is compatible with Micromax 5018 crossover dielectric, giving a complete materials set for appliance circuitry. Micromax 5036 heat seal composition may also be used where a heat-seal layer is required.
The paste carries 53–56% solids and a viscosity range of 200–425 Pa.s. Micromax 3610 is the listed solvent or thinner. Print with a 325 mesh stainless steel screen to a typical circuit line thickness of 8–9 μm. Theoretical coverage is 140–300 cm²/g, depending on print thickness. Box-oven drying is 120°C for 5–6 minutes; reel-to-reel drying is 140°C for 1 minute. Resistivity is 15–35 mΩ/sq at 25μm, and pencil hardness reaches 3H on 5-mil polyester film. Adhesion shows no material transfer in crosshatch testing. Work life is over 1 hour, and clean-up uses ethylene glycol diacetate. Store sealed at 5–30°C; unopened shelf life is 6 months.
