⚡ High-Conductivity Silver Conductor with Fast Cure Response
Micromax 5028 is a 69–71% solids silver conductor ink designed for low-voltage circuitry on flexible substrates. It reaches resistivity of 12 mΩ/sq or less at 25μm and offers excellent residence time on the screen, making it suitable for reel-to-reel and semi-automatic production.

Micromax 5028 silver conductor from MacDermid Alpha is formulated for low-voltage circuitry, especially on flexible substrates. The composition is particularly suited to applications that require high conductivity or fast curing. It can be used with reel-to-reel, semi-automatic, and manual printers, and holds excellent residence time on the screen. Polyester, paper, and epoxy glass are listed as compatible substrates.

The ink carries 69–71% solids and a viscosity range of 15–30 Pa.s. Box-oven drying is 120–130°C for 6 minutes; reel-to-reel drying is 140°C for 1–1.5 minutes. Cured traces hold resistivity at 12 mΩ/sq or less at 25μm, with resistivity after a 180° crease staying under 100 mΩ/sq. Adhesion shows no material transfer, and pencil hardness reaches 2H or higher. Work life is over 1 hour. Store sealed at 5–30°C; unopened shelf life is 6 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does 5028 suit fast-curing production?

The TDS describes 5028 as particularly suited to applications requiring high conductivity or fast curing. Reel-to-reel drying runs at 140°C for 1–1.5 minutes, which keeps cycle times short on continuous lines.

How conductive is the cured 5028 film?

Resistivity is 12 mΩ/sq or less at 25μm. After a 180° crease, resistivity stays below 100 mΩ/sq, so the trace continues to conduct after folding.

Can 5028 be run on reel-to-reel equipment?

Yes. Reel-to-reel is a listed printing method, and the TDS gives a reel-to-reel drying condition of 140°C for 1–1.5 minutes.

Which substrates are recommended for 5028?

Polyester, paper, and epoxy glass are listed. Polyester is the substrate used for the typical physical properties in the TDS.

What thinner should be used with 5028?

Micromax 3610 is the listed solvent or thinner. Using the specified thinner keeps printability and cured film properties consistent.

How does 5028 perform after environmental testing?

The TDS reports insignificant change in physical properties and less than 10% change in electrical properties after thermal shock, dry heat, humidity, salt spray, silver migration, and sulfur dioxide exposure.

Does 5028 have a shorter work life than 5025?

Yes. The TDS lists work life for 5028 as greater than 1 hour after mixing. This is shorter than 5025, so plan production batches accordingly.
