描述

VESTAMID X7393 NC is a natural-color, high-viscosity, plasticized, impact-modified, heat- and light-stabilized polyamide 12 compound from Evonik Operations GmbH developed for semi-rigid automotive tubing and hose extrusion.

Evonik positions VESTAMID X7393 NC for flexible tubing and hoses used in the automotive industry according to DIN 73378 and DIN 74324, Type PA12-PHLY. The grade is engineered for applications that need more structural support and burst-pressure resistance than very soft tubing compounds while still retaining the routing, impact and chemical-resistance advantages of plasticized PA12.

The most important technical positioning of VESTAMID X7393 NC is its combination of optimized cold-temperature impact resistance and increased burst-pressure resistance. This is why the grade is especially relevant for semi-rigid automotive lines, pneumatic tubing, air-brake-related systems and other technical lines where wall stability under pressure matters.

The natural-color format also gives processors more freedom when downstream coloration or application-specific identification is required. Evonik notes that colorants can affect material properties, so final qualification should always use the selected production color formulation.

The current Material Data Center classifies VESTAMID X7393 NC as PA12-I. The product description simultaneously identifies X7393 as a high-viscosity, plasticized and impact-modified PA12 tubing compound and references PA12-PHLY for the DIN tubing application. For this reason, the product page retains the requested commercial designation (PA12-P)-I while also showing the current database classification transparently.

Current grade-specific data lists an MVR of approximately 8.5 cm³/10 min at 230°C / 5 kg, confirming the high-viscosity extrusion character of the grade.

The dry tensile modulus is approximately 520 MPa, with a conditioned value around 470 MPa. Yield stress is approximately 29 MPa dry and 27 MPa conditioned, while yield strain is approximately 28%.

These values place VESTAMID X7393 NC between very soft flexible tubing compounds and rigid unplasticized PA12. The material remains ductile while providing useful stiffness for pressure tubing.

Low-temperature impact performance is a key strength. Unnotched Charpy specimens show no break at both 23°C and -30°C. Notched Charpy impact is approximately 108 kJ/m² dry and 130 kJ/m² conditioned at 23°C, and approximately 7 / 8 kJ/m² at -30°C.

The material has a Shore D hardness of approximately 67, a melting temperature around 177°C, a glass-transition temperature around 15°C, HDT of approximately 45°C at 1.80 MPa and 110°C at 0.45 MPa, and Vicat B softening temperature around 125°C.

Moisture absorption remains low. Current data lists approximately 1.2% water absorption and 0.7% humidity absorption. This low moisture sensitivity is one of the reasons PA12 is widely used for automotive tubing: mechanical and dimensional properties change relatively little as humidity varies.

Evonik also specifically identifies X7393 as having an exceptionally low coefficient of friction and good chemical resistance, which are useful for automotive line routing, installation and long-term exposure to technical fluids.

Typical Applications for VESTAMID X7393 NC

VESTAMID X7393 NC is primarily intended for semi-rigid tube and hose systems in automotive and industrial applications.

Application Area Typical Use
Automotive Pneumatic Tubing Semi-rigid compressed-air and control lines
Air-Brake Related Tubing PA12 line systems designed around relevant DIN requirements
Automotive Fluid Lines Semi-rigid routed technical tubing
Vacuum Lines Automotive vacuum and control tubing
Fuel-Related Tubing Selected fuel and return-line systems after application qualification
Industrial Pneumatic Lines Semi-rigid chemical-resistant PA12 tubing
Control Lines Lines requiring dimensional stability and pressure resistance
Technical Hose Semi-rigid hose where cold impact and low friction are important
Profile Extrusion Technical semi-rigid profiles where the same PA12 property balance is useful

The grade is especially relevant where a softer material such as X7293 is too flexible but a rigid unplasticized PA12 would be unnecessarily stiff.

Electrical Data Status

The current open grade-specific Material Data Center page for VESTAMID X7393 NC does not publish a complete electrical-property table.

For technical accuracy, electrical values from the black X7393 BK 9.7507 formulation have not been copied into this NC page. Colorants and formulation details can affect properties, and Evonik itself notes that pigmentation may affect values.

Why Choose VESTAMID X7393 NC?

The main reason to select VESTAMID X7393 NC is that it provides a useful middle ground between highly flexible tubing compounds and rigid PA12.

For pressure tubing, wall stiffness matters because internal pressure tries to expand the tube. A very soft compound may be easy to route but can require a thicker wall or may provide less burst-pressure margin.

A rigid unplasticized PA12 can increase stiffness, but it may reduce the flexibility needed for vehicle installation.

VESTAMID X7393 NC addresses this balance with a plasticized, impact-modified formulation that still provides a dry modulus of approximately 520 MPa.

The grade is specifically described by Evonik as providing increased burst-pressure resistance, making this feature more than a generic PA12 benefit.

Low-temperature impact performance is equally important. Vehicle tubing may be installed or operated in winter conditions. The no-break Charpy result at -30°C demonstrates the toughness needed for these environments.

Low moisture absorption is another major advantage. Because the resin absorbs relatively little water, stiffness and dimensions change less with humidity than in many PA6 or PA66 materials.

The low coefficient of friction simplifies tube routing through clips and guides and can reduce abrasion during installation.

Chemical resistance supports contact with common automotive and industrial environments, although actual fluid compatibility should always be confirmed under the intended temperature, pressure and exposure duration.

The natural-color format is another practical advantage. Customers can use the base resin for application-specific color identification rather than starting from a black compound.

For customers looking for a natural-color, semi-rigid, pressure-oriented PA12 tubing compound, VESTAMID X7393 NC is therefore a highly targeted material.
