Santoprene 101-87 is a hard, black and versatile thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) from Celanese designed for demanding general-purpose molding and extrusion applications.

Celanese describes the grade as a TPV in the thermoplastic elastomer family that combines good physical properties and chemical resistance with conventional thermoplastic processing.

A particularly important point is that the grade designation 101-87 should not be interpreted as the current measured Shore A hardness. The current Celanese Materials Database lists a Shore A hardness of approximately 94 after 15 seconds. The material is polyolefin based and can be recyclable within the manufacturing stream under properly controlled production conditions.
