VESTAMID LC-GF23 NC is a semi-crystalline, heat- and UV-stabilized polyamide 12 compound from Evonik Operations GmbH reinforced with 23% glass fiber. It is developed primarily for injection-molded connectors and is especially suitable for automotive, mobility and engineering applications.

Evonik positions the LC-GF family as fiberglass-reinforced PA12 for lightweight, high-performance automotive components. The range is offered in several reinforcement levels so designers can select the required balance between stiffness, strength and flexibility. VESTAMID LC-GF23 NC is the natural-color 23% glass-fiber grade in this family.

One of the defining characteristics of VESTAMID LC-GF23 NC is the combination of reinforcement with comparatively high strain at break. Evonik describes the product as a glass-fiber-reinforced PA12 compound with high strain at break for injection molding. This is especially valuable for quick connectors, where the part must maintain precise geometry while locking tabs, clips and assembly features still need to tolerate deformation.

The PA12 matrix absorbs only small amounts of water. Components molded from VESTAMID LC-GF23 NC therefore maintain excellent dimensional accuracy under changing ambient humidity. The grade is delivered as cylindrical granules in ready-to-process condition and packed in moisture-tight packaging.

If the original packaging remains intact, unnecessary drying should be avoided. If the pellets have absorbed moisture after opening, 80–100°C for 2–4 hours is the published pre-drying recommendation.

The melt-temperature window of 240–280°C and mold-temperature range of 60–100°C should be adjusted according to part geometry, wall thickness, flow length and gate design.

Because VESTAMID LC-GF23 NC contains 23% glass fiber, fiber orientation can influence local stiffness, shrinkage and impact behavior. Gate location and flow direction should therefore be considered carefully in quick-connector molds.
